Early this year the software maker revealed that its next operating system will be released later this summer, but no specific date was announced. Then AMD CEO Lisa also revealed during a conference earnings call that Microsoft was planning to release Windows 10 by the end of July, but again, close, but no specific date was mentioned. Today, on a new post at the Windows Blog, Terry Myerson, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President of Operating Systems, finally unveiled that the company is “nearly ready to deliver this free upgrade” to all Windows customers and the final public release will happen on July 29th. Keep in mind that Microsoft will only be releasing the desktop version (PCs and tablets) of Windows 10 on July 29th. Other devices such as phone, Xbox, Surface Hub, and HoloLens will release up in a later date. As part of the launch campaign, Microsoft is making sure users can reserve their free Windows 10 copy with a simply reservation process. Starting June 1, millions of users will notice a new Windows icon in the system tray at the bottom of the screen, when they click it, the “Get Windows 10” app will launch to guide users to reserve their copy of Windows 10.
To reserve your copy, simply click on Reserve your free upgrade, enter your email address to a confirmation, then click Send confirmation, and that’s all there is to it, finally click Close.
