On the new flight, which comes only two days after the previous version, Microsoft is including “a few hundred bug fixes”, which the company says wanted to “get out to Insiders as quickly as possible”.
What’s new on Windows 10 for PC
The company doesn’t go really into all the bug fixes, but it highlights that on PC, users should no longer see the Windows expiration pop-up, which it’s been a bug for a few flights. Windows 10 build 14385 also delivers changes to improve the battery life on Surface devices. In addition, Microsoft Edge includes a new fix that caused LastPass and AdBlock to not display context menu items correctly. Projecting to a PC auto-discoverability is disabled by default. Moving forward, when you want to project other devices into your PC, you’ll now have to go to Settings > System > Projecting to this PC, and set “Windows PCs and phones can project to this PC when you say it’s OK” to “Available everywhere” or “Available everywhere on secure networks”. Mobile Hotspot has been fixed to prevent blue screen of death (BSoD) and rebooting in certain scenarios.
What’s new on Windows 10 Mobile
Windows 10 Mobile build 14385 also delivers a few improvements, such as PDFs now work correctly on Microsoft Edge. The new build improves battery life on older phones, such as Lumia 830, 930, and 1520. And there is also a fix for an issue where configuring the SIM name on a dual SIM phone usually fails. Microsoft is listing all the fixes and known issues for build 14385 at the Windows Blog. Windows 10 build 14385 for PC and Mobile is available immediately through the Fast ring. The new preview download and install automatically, but you can always force the update from Settings > Update & security > Windows Update and clicking the Check for updates button. If you can’t wait until August 2nd, with today’s release, Windows 10 is stable enough to use as a day-to-day operating system.
