Because Skype with new “modern UI” isn’t yet available in the Windows Store there are some hoops you need to jump to get the app installed.
- Download the MetroSkype_1.0.0.128_x86.zip file from here (http://www.2shared.com/file/h7OZTS7k/MetroSkype_100128_x86.html).
- Extract the zip file
- Open the extracted folder, right-click “Add-AppDevPackage.ps1″ file and select “Run with PowerShell”.
- Then press Enter. You’ll need a Windows 8 developer key in order to continue the install.
- To obtain a developer license for Windows 8 click “I Agree” in the dialog box that will pop-up.
- Sign-in with your Live, Hotmail or Outlook.com email account and you’ll receive a license.
- Back in the PowerShell user interface, hit Y and then Enter to finalize the install. What is left to do now is to simply go to the Start screen and start Skype. Enjoy! Things to keep in mind: This version of Skype (Metro style) is a preview app, you cannot edit or add settings, it still bugging, so thing may not work well. Install Skype for Windows 8 interface as a test and nothing more until it is available in the Windows Store. All content on this site is provided with no warranties, express or implied.
