Starting today, Microsoft is kicking off its multi-million dollar marketing campaign to promote Windows 10, which will put Windows fans front and center. On celebration of the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft will be hosting a number of events around world primarily for all the Windows Insiders, who for the past nine months have been helping the company to shape the new operating system. The global fan celebrations will happen in 13 cities around the world, including Sydney, Beijing, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, London, Berlin, Madrid, Singapore, Johannesburg, Nairobi, New Delhi, Dubai and New York City. At these events, fans will have the opportunity to interact with the new operating system, see demo experiences, entertainment, giveaways, and there will be a chance for meet the Windows team. In United States, Microsoft will celebrate the launch of Windows 10 on over 110 Microsoft Stores. The company plans to have in-store events to help customers easily upgrade to Windows 10. The company is also partnering with retailers to introduce programs to help customers to upgrade, including Best Buy, Bic Camera, Croma, Currys/PC World, Elkjøp, Jarir, Incredible Connection, Media Markt, Staples, Wal-Mart, Yamada, Yodobashi and many more leading retailers from around the world. On July 20th, Microsoft will also kick off its TV marketing campaign focus on highlighting Windows 10 features, such Windows Hello and Microsoft Edge, the TV spot will also focus on Windows fans. In addition, on July 29th, “tens of thousands” of Microsoft employees will take the day off to participate in the “upgrade your world” and help their community to upgrade to Windows 10. During the life of “upgrade your world” campaign, Microsoft will also be donating money to non-profit organizations. “A total of $10 million cash investment will be made in support of their missions and to promote awareness of their causes.” While everything is on place for the big launch, not everyone will get Windows 10 on July 29th. As previously detailed by the company, Windows Insiders will be the first to receive Windows 10 RTM, those customers with a genuine copy of Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or Windows 8.1 Update will receive the Windows 10 upgrade next, and then Microsoft will continue to gradually roll out the operating system to everyone.
