The new report (the rumor) claims that Microsoft’s VR tech is being designed to feature augmented reality technology. The company has not yet made any official comments, but considering that Sony is close to announce its own virtual reality headset, it only makes sense that its competitor will do something similar. The company has been looking into keep building new ways to transform gaming. For example, back in 2013, the Microsoft Research team showed of IllumiRoom, an augmented reality projection system to display games images outside of the TV and into the walls making the experience more immersive. However the company has yet to release any new updates on this project. Lately VR technology is getting a lot of attention and even more in the gaming industry. Valve, as another example, is working on its own virtual reality technology, and Oculus VR is a kickstarter company who has developed, perhaps the best virtual reality headset for 3D gaming — the Oculus Rift.
