Although the firmware update for the tablet has been released a day before launch, it doesn’t mean that if you pre-ordered yours, you’ll get your Surface Pro 3 with the update already installed. Of course it will install automatically, but the best thing you can do when you first get your hands on the device is to install the firmware manually.
Instructions
- Swipe from the left to bring up the Charms and tap Change PC settings.
- Tap Update and recovery.
- Tap or click Check now.
- If the update is available for you, tap View details.
- Select “System Firmware Update – 6/19/2014.” and click Install. The update will start the installation process, Surface Pro 3 will restart, and the overall process should take no longer than 20 minutes. If you are experiencing some issues, please let me know in the comments below. Keep in mind this first firmware update for Surface Pro 3 doesn’t include the fix for the home button getting in the way when using the Surface Pen.
