The first update resolves issues with all versions of Internet Explorer, even for IE 11 for Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1. The second update address problem with “Remote Code Execution” on Windows, Office, and Lync. The third update and marked as Important deals also with “Remote Code Execution” on Office. The fourth and fifth updates are related to “Information Disclosure” on Windows and Microsoft Lync Server. Update number six fixes “Denial of Service” issue on Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, RT, and RT 8.1. And Finally the last update for this June 2014 Patch Tuesday deals with “Tampering” problems in Windows. For security reasons Microsoft never fully discloses all the details about its updates before they are released to prevent others for taking advantage of the information to continue spreading malicious code. Microsoft will roll out these new updates later today — perhaps the updates are available now, depending the time you’re reading — starting 1:00 p.m. ET. It’s important to note that June 10th is the last day for consumers using Windows 8.1 to update to Windows 8.1 Update. After this day, Microsoft will no longer allow users to receive any Windows updates. So you must update ASAP. Though this only applies to Windows 8.1 users, Windows 8 users can still update after June 10th. As for Surface firmware update for June, this is something to be announced, the company doesn’t always reveals a new update is coming to its line of tablets.
