Now the company says that a beta version of the Cortana app for Android phones will be arriving in July, however there is not a specific release date. Microsoft has previously said that Cortana for Android will be available in late June, now it seems users will have to wait just a bit longer. In addition, we’re still waiting for the company to talk about the iPhone version of Cortana, which it should arrive later this year. Microsoft states: Although, the Cortana app for Android and iOS devices will allow users to have a more integrated Windows 10 experience no matter the device they are using, the app will be limited in functionality to simple tasks and to get answers to questions, using natural language. The reason is because of the nature of being on a different operating system there are restrictions on how Cortana can access the system. On your Android phone you can ask Cortana to remind you to walk the dog at 8pm in the evening, and then when you’re watching a movie your Xbox will interrupt playback to let you know it’s time to take the dog out.”
We’re expecting Cortana to be available on Windows 10 at launch on July 29th, but it will only be available in select markets with a release for Xbox One later this fall.
