Apparently the consumer electronics corporation isn’t selling as many PCs as they hoped, and to boost sales the company announced a promotional offers that begins on Sunday, February 24th; and it’ll last for two weeks until March 9th. The promotion provides $100 discount for those costumers who purchase a laptop or desktop computer with touchscreen running Windows 8. What’s also interesting, is that The Wall Street Journal says that Best Buy, together with Microsoft, Intel, and computer manufactures are covering the discount cost in order to stimulate more sales. One of the reason for the slow sale could be that a touch panel means that the cost of the Windows 8 PC goes up anything from $50 up to $200, so the discount should make somewhat a difference. Microsoft still hasn’t announced the number of sales on Windows 8 PCs, but a few third-party research firms are saying that the new operating system has yet to shake the computer market. However, the software giant back in January said that they had sold over 60 million Windows 8 licenses, and that the sales are pretty much the same as the early start of Windows 7. If you’re planning to buy a new computer, this might just be the right time to stop by your Best Buy store and pick one of the many Windows 8 touchscreen PC models. But also keep in mind that the offer doesn’t apply for the purchase of neither Surface RT or Surface Pro, or any other tablet bundled with Windows 8 or Windows RT.
